Black on Black

Hey guys! Hope all is well! The weather in Michigan has been so gloomy lately no sun in sight so my wardrobe has kinda shown the effects of that. I paired this black sweater crop top for H&M with some black studded leggings which I absolutely adore and got from Dots for $7!!! I added some rocker style jewelry and a red lip to give it that edge and tied it all together (literally) with my black floral scarf that I wore as a head scarf today! :) Easy simple and quickly put together!

SCARF HEADWRAP!

Hey Guys! Just wanted to post some pictures of what I wore today. Recently I've gotten into a new trend: Scarf Wraps or as some in the YouTube world call it Turban.....I've gotten sooo many compliments the look! It's really easy to create anyone can do it including YOU! I also wore my moto type jacket that I ordered from Forever 21 + online ages ago and I just received it in the mail 2 days ago.....Needless to say I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I think I thought it was going to look different on but I think I'll keep it. :)...

Remi Goddess Hair Review

Hey guys! So I have a new hairstyle and I actually used a brand of hair that I've never used before so I wanted to give a review on it to let you know what I think. So, yes this is a sew in! I do not do wigs or glue ins because glue will damage your hair . I seem to keep my hair in sew ins now so that I can allow my hair to grow. The brand I used is called Remi Goddess. I used a half pack of a 12 inch and a full pack of a 14 inch (I had some of both left over). I've never gotten a inch this long but I decided to do something different because the style I wanted (Kardashian curls) required length. When getting the hair sow'n in my beautician informed me that she like the hair because it was really easy to thread due to the whisks (wear the hair is bound together being thin. I could appreciate that because the easier it is for her the shorter time it would take to do lol! I've had in the hair for  four days now and my only complaint is that it sheds like no other! When I run my fingers through my hair clumps come out! So, I try not to mess with my hair as much so that I won't have this happen. Other than that I am enjoying the hair. The price was pretty reasonable but then again the hair was on sale as well. I spent a total of 105 for 2 packs (a 12 inch and a 14 inch). So, it's really up to you if you can deal with sheding. If you can look pass that I would recommend this brand.

The Feather Touch!

Hey guys, so this is a look I wore 2 weeks ago. My look I would say was actually really simple for my taste but I still decided to share it with you guys. So I wore black and white and add a little  personality with some dangly feather earrings I purchased from Forever 21. I absolutely love them!!!!I toned down the earrings by pairing it with a simple black bodycon skirt, a white button down a black skinny belt at the waist and finishing it up with a military style crop jean jacket that I got from Torrid like 3 years ago. I hope you guys like it!

FIND YOUR FIT!!!!

Hey guys! I told you I would be back and with a new look. So, on this past Sunday I showed a little more curves than I'm use to. And yes, I was the one that said plus size girls can't wear a tucked in shirt with a bodycon skirt but I broke that rule. I paired a pleated long sleeve black shirt with pleated front detail with a blue & black bodycon skirt. I accessorized with these design stockings, a skinny black belt to accentuate the waist, and I wore some lace up pumps (which are not shown in the photos. The main thing I wanted to address today was that just because you are plus size doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to the places you shop. A great example is the skirt from this look. Although Forever 21 now has a plus size line, this skirt actually came from its regular size line. Surprised???? Its really hard to find pieces that fit plus size women but its NOT impossible. You just have to know your shape and know your fabrics. I've been able to shop at H&M and Forever 21 both aimed towards the "skinny" type girl. The thing to look for is anything with a little give in the fabric, that is, anything that is stretchable. You may turn a regular size dress into an adorable top but work with what you got! Turning a dress into a top because of your size makes you unique because although you may have the same item as a "skinny" girl, the execution when wearing it will be completely different. You got to think outside the box!

Pink Vintage!

Are you feeling tickled pink? Lol! I love bright pink and I love how I pulled off this thrifted pink dress recently. So Sunday I paired this vintage pink pleated dress with 3/4 sleeves with black pumps and gold jewelry. I absolutely loveeee vintage pieces. I would suggest everyone have at least one vintage piece in their closet. Needless to say this look was a hit! No, you can't just go out and get this dress from Macy's or H&M but you can probably find something similar but if you want the real thing check your local thrift stores! The look was simple yet made a bold statement. No need for separates you can get the bold statement piece effect with just one pop of color in a  dress. This look was also a more conservative look for a younger woman like myself. Believe it or not back in the day this was a typical look, a high scoop neck and below the knee skirt. But, I can say although it was more conservative I felt it went very well with my new bangs! :) By the way, the makeup I paired with this look is a nuetral eye (shades of brown) and a pink lip. I used all Ulta eye shadows and the lip stain color was NYX -Beige (its a pink I promise). Kudos for Vintage Style that I'm bringing back in style!

Plus Size Celebrity Spotlight: ADELE!

She is making fashion news daily. Yes, she is curvy and in control of the music scene and yes let’s not forget, plus size. Her name is Adele. You may know her from her hit song “Rolling in the Deep” but I know her as a staple in plus size fashion.  Her beautiful voice is not the only thing she is being recognized for but also her BLACK! Black clothing that is. Let’s just say she’s a huge fan of wearing black clothing. Her sleek sometimes daring apparel is making fashion headlines. She has a mixture of sleek, retro, 60/70s style and I am in love with it. She sets trends daily! Not only does she have an awesome fashion sense, her makeup is to die for! Those lashes and black liquid eyeliner makes her eyes really pop.  Now, there are not many if any plus size female vocalists that have blown up as much as she so Adele is my plus size celebrity spotlight. She is a huge inspiration for me and I’m sure she is for a lot more plus size divas. This Brit star is on the rise to fashionista status and believe me she’s one to watch! You go girl!

TRENDS TRENDS AND MORE TRENDS....

ARE YOU GUYS READY FOR FALL?!?!? I'm so excited for the end of summer because that means that its almost time for fall. Fall is perhaps my favorite season. The mild weather the falling leaves the colors of orange and browns. What's not to love? Well I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on some of the trends you can look forward to seeing for Fall 2011. Are you ready? Okay now lets start with my personal favorite which I can't wait to add to my wardrobe 1) Bright colored pants! Colored pants are already being seen on the streets worn by so many celebrities. I love colors and I know you guys are going to love this look. Next is a returning favorite 2) Riding/ Combat boots. I love how combat boots look but some people just don't see why they even exist. I don't own a pair yet but I'm sure by fall I'll have a new edition to my shoe collection. 3)Blazers! Now you've already seen a look with me wearing blazers so I guess I started this trend a little early. Blazers re a hot commodity these days and you can easily go find one at your local thrift store for less that 10 dollars. 4) Polka Dots. Now I'm not sure how I feel about wearing polka dots. Don't get me wrong they are adorable but if and only if worn in a suttle way. Maybe I'll give it a try. 5)Lace! I loveeeeeeee lace I mean my last name is Lovelace (hehe). I don't own a lace top but I just saw a beautiful lace Cami type shirt on forever21plus website for like $15 so it looks like I won't be laceless for too much longer. 6) Plaid! Who doesn't love plaid. Plaid has is actually already been seen as a trend for over a year now so you go plaid! 7) Leather skirts! Yes they are back in style. I remember having one like maybe 6 years ago and I never thought they would come back in style but TA DA! Let's see how that one looks when more people start wearing them again. Well those are the main trends you and I will be seeing this Fall. I'm super excited and I hope you guys are too.  Remember some of these are repeating trends so you may already have some of this tucked away in your closet. If not what better way to end your summer than to go fall shopping!

Go Tribal or Go Home!

Tribal is in and is actually still going to be seen in this coming up fall  2011 collections. Today I decided to go tribal! I love patterns and this outfit really gave me the opportunity to color block as well. I paired a tribal green and brown skirt with a mustard yellow tank and a cream sweater cardigan. Michigan's summer weather isn't as hot as it has been usually, only getting into the low 70s today so that's why I threw on the cardigan. The shoes I decided to pair it with this outfit are just some lime green sandals. I finished this look with a twisted headband worn on my forehead, a 3 flower gold necklace, and yellow rose studs.

Cheetah Love!!!!

Hey everyone! It has been a couple of days since I've posted something so here is a new look! Cheetah print is definitely in this season and I wanted to play around with some colors as well. It took me all week to find all the pieces to this outfit but I finally did and the look came together soooooo well. This has to be my favorite look I've done. I used a body con plum color skirt and paired it with a cheetah print silk material shirt and put on a black blazer over it. I finished the look with gold accessories. Flawless! Now to me body con skirts are very cute for a day or a night look BUT although they make it for all sizes, us as plus size women can't wear a tucked in shirt with the body con skirt because most of us have the problem of the gut area. A simple solution is to wear a flowy non fitted top with the body con skirt. You still get that effect of slenderness in the thighs but you avoid pinpointing your problem area. Overall this look is a great business attire or church outfit as I used it ;)....

Nail Polish Galore!

I’m a sucker for nail polish. Like any girl, I think nail polish in any shade is a statement that demands to be seen.  I’ve recently started my own collection of nail polishes because let’s face it my college student budget can’t afford me to get pampered every week with a mani/pedi. So, to save money I decided to start doing my nails myself. It’s actually quite nice because I can change the color anytime I want.  I’m in control and that makes me the designer.  Now, there are TONS of shades out there, from the lightest shades of white to the brightest of neon highlighter yellow to the darkest of every shade of gray and black. Nail polish is every affordable too, if you know how to shop around for the biggest bargain. They can range anywhere from 1 dollar to 15 dollars. Now I’m not recommending any particular brand of polish because I own a wide variety but I will say this: I loveeeee OPI! OPI has the brightest, boldest colors I’ve seen. They are so popular that even celebrities, like Katy Perry, are teaming up with OPI to make their own signature colors. By the way let me also say this: I am team natural nails. I did for a while have acrylic nails but it took too much effort and money to maintain and it’s not that great for your nails. I found that my nails actually grew more when I took care of them myself and didn’t use acrylic fake nails. I also use this special top coat which I got from my roommate.  It’s called “Bright Plus Rossie System”. It works miracles. My nails are healthy strong and growing ;)…So remember express yourself with your nail polish!

The Red Lip!

This is my first post ever and I'm so excited to start sharing in the fashion movement. Last week I was trying to put an outfit together for church today. I really had the idea in my head but trying to make it come to life took a lot of patience and effort. I'm really working on my make up skills and I've always wanted to try a red lipstick. I wasn't too sure if I could pull it off because my lips are already bigger than most and I didn't want them to stand out more. I paired my smokey grayish black eyes with the red lip and down played my makeup with a white over sized men's button down and a black skinny belt right below the waist. A black fitted skirt, black zip up wedges and a few bling accessories completed this look. The look was a success. Really loved putting this one together.
